Notes about Boris Jalkow

Boris Jalkow came to the US in 1913 (his parents and some of his siblings came somewhat earlier). That was doubtless related to persecution of the Jews by the Czar and the pogroms initiated by the Czar to distract the peasants from their problems. Boris kept old newspapers describing these events.

Boris came to the US with his sister Lerra (born abt. 1892 in Odessa). Both are already married. Why would his sister have her maiden last name? Is she the wife of a brother? Or is she Anna, his wife?
Lives next to his sister Minnie in 1930
