Notes about Johannes Wilhelm Merkelbach

Hij was een zeepmaker; dienstplichtige. Vader van de bruidegom een commissionair.
Opgericht in juli 1869 een zeepfabriek genaamd Firma Merkelbach & Co. (voorheen Geesink) voor de productie van harde en zachte zepen.
Bruid is weduwe van Willem Rijk.
Werd eigenaar van een "franse bazaar" (warenhuis) met onder andere technisch speelgoed (toverlantaarns) en een vuurwerkfabriek.
Johannes Wilhelm Merkelbach ging een partnerschap aan met Machiel Hendrikus Laddé, de zoon van zijn echtgenote door een eerder huwelijk met Willem van Rijk, bij de oprichting van het "Eerste Nederlands Atelier tot het vervaardigen van films voor deBioscoop en Cinematograaf MH Laddé & JWMerkelbach" (Eerste Nederlandse Studio voor de vervaardiging van films voor de Bioscope en Cinematograph). Ze produceerden de eerste Nederlandse komische film in 1896 en ook documentaires.
