Bij het burgerlijk huwelijk van Mies en Jan was de volgende getuige aanwezig: Klaas Jan Veldkamp (1899-1960) [aangetrouwde oom moederszijde bruid].

JAN en gezin (MIES, Ank en Aart) in Japanse interneringskampen geweest van ca. 1943-1945 (jappenkamp).

MARIA VAN BEURDEN-MERKELBACH, Anna, Aart arriveerde rond december 1945 vanuit Indië in Singapore, reisde in maart 1946 vanuit Singapore naar Sydney.
Ze gingen naar Brisbane en bleven bij vrienden van Jan tot ze vertrokken (1-12-1945).
De familie verliet Brisbane allemaal naar Nederland. Ze waren van plan slechts enkele maanden in Rotterdam te blijven om het gezin te bezoeken, maar bleven tot 1954.
JAN en gezin (MIES, Ank, Aart, Maria en Wim) emigreren naar Australië. Ze vertrokken via Liverpool via het Panamakanaal en arriveerden in Australië op een schip genaamd de "Dardanus" (aankomst 20 februari 1954).
