Dirske Biesheuvel en Jan Rombout krijgen op 25 december 1820 een dochter: Marigje. Jan moet binnen een aantal dagen aangifte van de geboorte van Marigje doen bij de gemeente Werkendam maar hij is te laat. Jan wil alsnog aangifte doen, omdat hij Marigje 'ten Heiligen Doop wil aanbieden', maar de ambtenaar weigert de aangifte op te nemen. Jan moet vervolgens voor de rechter in Den Bosch komen omdat hij te laat aangifte doet. De rechter zegt echter op 7 februari 1821 dat Jan 'door de ijsgang op de rivier, welke zijn woning van de gemeente Werkendam afscheid, in de onmogelijkheid is geweest de geboorte van zijn kind' tijdig aan te geven en geeft hem daarom geen straf. De rechter bepaalt op 24 juli 1821 dat de ambtenaar de geboorte van Marigje alsnog moet inschrijven en dit gebeurt op 11 augustus 1821. Jan en Dirske wonen in 1821 'op den Hardenhoek onder de gemeente Werkendam'.
