Hij is medeoprichter en firmant van de carrosseriefabriek Henrich & Veth in Arnhem. Arie is daarnaast betrokken bij de Nederlandsche Maatschappij ter bevordering van Nijverheid (Leidsch Dagblad, 7 juli 1860, Leeuwarder Courant 29 oktober 1867). Arie overlijdt in 1873 na 'eene ziekte van weinige dagen (Arnhemsche Courant, 14 juni 1873). Elizabeth draagt de firma van Arie over aan zijn broer Bastiaan Veth en verhuist naar Dordrecht. Zij hertrouwt daar in 1877 met Pieter van der Slik (1827-1882). Elizabeth woont tot 1901 in Dordrecht, tot in ieder geval 1894 op Wolwevershaven 11 en de laatste jaren op Burg. De Raadtsingel 15. Elizabeth en haar dochter Josina verhuizen in 1901 naar Den Haag.
