Jan Koppelaar verhuist in 1902 van Stad Delden (in Overijssel) naar Rotterdam. Jan woont daar tot 1920 op verschillende adressen (Zegwaardstraat 5, Gerard Scholtenstraat 119, Schieveenstraat 40 B, Heemsteestraat 23 B, Bleiswijkstraat 23 A (Jan en Hermanus zijn op dit adres geboren) en Zegwaardstraat 24 B). In de jaren 1908-1910 woont Jans zus Teuntje Koppelaar bij hem. Het lijkt erop dat Jan, zo begrijp ik uit het bevolkingsregister van Rotterdam, ook tussen 1887 en 1899, als kind dus, in Rotterdam woont. Hij vertrekt in 1899 naar 'Alfen'. Ik weet niet of ik dit verkeerd lees en als ik het goed lees, wat hier de achtergrond van is. Jan is schoenmaker. Jan, inmiddels getrouwd met Adriana den Arend en vader van 2 kinderen, verhuist in 1920 naar B 552 (Stationsweg) in Sliedrecht. Jan en Adriana wonen bij hun dood in 1954 op Troelstralaan 95 in Sliedrecht. Jan overlijdt 13 dagen na Adriana. Jans nichtje Sjonnie (de jongste dochter van zijn broer Teunis) trouwt een maand na de dood van haar oom en tante en woont daarna op Troelstralaan 95 in Sliedrecht.
