na het overlijden van zijn vrouw verhuisde Frans naar Nijmegen naar zijn zoon Wouter.omdat hij dement werd en niet meer uit het oog verloren kon wordeis hij ondergebracht in bejaardetehuis Levensavond. metselaarsknecht[1884],metselaar,sjouwer,werkman,boekbinder.Frans zocht zijn heil buiten sint maartensdijk via Bergen op zoom kwamen hij en Leuntje in Rotterdam terecht.Op latere leeftijd werd hij blind en bezocht in rotterdam het blinde instituut,hij werd op weg van huis naar het instituut en weer terug geholpen door zijn hondje.toen hij begon te dementeren verhuisde hij naar Nijmegen waar hij een tijd bij het gezin van zijn zoon Wouter woonde .ze konden hem na verloop van tijd niet meer uit het oog verliezen en hebben hem toen ondergebracht in het nieuwe ,en voor die tijd zeer moderne,bejaardentehuis ''"Levensavond""
