Mei 1920 deed hij zijn zaak over aan zijn pleegzoon Dirk Rijnberg, deze mocht zich de eerste 10 jaren verheugen in den goeden gang van zaken, doch door de allengs moeilijker wordende tijdsomstandigheden zag deze zich genoodzaakt in 1935 deze zaak over te doen ten koste van groote financiele offers. [ dit cafe bestaat nu nog steeds als cafe anno 2017]  is op de hoek kaai en kaaistraat in sint maartensdijk
