Johan Endeman voetbalde bij Sparta in Oldenzaal. Hij overleed aan difterie op 22-jarige leeftijd, drie maanden voor de bevrijding, in een Duits interneringskamp (A.Z. Lager Arbeitserziehungslager) nabij Osnabr˚ck. Hij is begraven op het ereveld in Loenen op de veluwe.
Johan was opgepakt, omdat de bus waarmee hij naar Nordhorn ging ís morgens te vroeg, en ís avonds te laat vertrok. Daarom hadden de ontevreden buspassagiers besloten te staken als protest tegen de vertrektijden van de bus. Als represaille arresteerden de Duitsers van ieder afdeling twee arbeiders als gijzelaar: acht personen werden in totaal ëverhaftetí. Johan hoorde daar ook bij. Vier van hen werden na enkele dagen weer in vrijheid gesteld. Johan werd op de Marechaussee-kazerne aan de Molenstraat vastgehouden, drie weken lang. Daarna gingen ze naar Bentheim en werden daar opgesloten in een cel van de Gestapo op het station. Hier bleven ze een week. Toen werden hij en Henk Rosens, die om dezelfde reden samen met hem was opgepakt, naar Osnabr˚ck overgebracht.
Op 20 februari werd er een rouwdienst gehouden ter nagedachtenis aan Johan Endeman in het huis van zijn ouders. Dominee Pot leidde deze dienst.
