Hij was de jongste van 18 kinderen van Johannis Verloop (1815-1895, schipper) uit twee huwelijken. Hij trouwde nog in Puttershoek en verhuisde ca. 1905 naar Den Haag. Daar was hij tramconducteur (1907/1911), loopknecht (1914), grossier/handelaar in koek en banket (1928) en broodbezorger (1932). Hij is de voorvader van de grote ìHaagseî zijtak van de Verloop stamboom, hoodfvertakking ìHoeksche Waardî, 1e tak (ìPuttershoekî).
