Notes about Johannes (Jan) Jacobsz VERLOOP


Jan Verloop was molenbouwer in de Overwaard, meester timmerman (1764-1772), herbergier (1755-1765) en brandewijntapper. Deze Verloop-tak is kennelijk uitgestorven in de mannelijke lijn omdat dit echtpaar zeven (7) dochters had en slechts een enkele zoon (Jacobus; gedoopt 1740 in Nieuw-Lekkerland), waarvan geen huwelijk of nakomelingen bekend zijn.
Molen nr. 8 in de Overwaard bij Kinderdijk (World Heritage site) werd door hem in 1740 gebouwd voor fl10.500. In 1780 was hij (als weduwnaar) verwikkeld in een gerechtelijke Vierschaar procedure te Dordrecht tegen zijn dienstmaagd Ariaantje Loopick vanwege gestolen geld en brandstichting van zijn huis gedurende zijn tijdelijke afwezigheid. Zij werd ter dood veroordeeld (worgpaal) maar kennelijk is dit vonnis niet voltrokken.

Nakomelingen van zijn dochters IJda (Eike) en Elisabeth komen veelviuldig voor in het geslacht van der Perk rondom Nieuw-Lekkerkerk en Alblasserdam.
