Hij was van o.m. politieagent en hoofd bewakingsdient van het Batadorp bij Best. Vertrok uit Rotterdam als dientstplichtige naar Budel (Marechaussee kazerne) in oktober in 1940 en was krijgsgevangene in Utrecht. Hij werd gehuldigd in Best in 1989 als waardering voor het behalen van de eerste plaats op zowel de 1500 als de 5000 meter hardlopen tijdens de Olympische Spelen voor Veteranen in augustus 1989 in Denemarken.
