      Oma Verhoef was een stille vrouw. Ik heb haar enkele keren alleen in Scheveningen - waar ze in een donkere achterkamer van een bejaardentehuis woonde - enkele malen bezocht (ik was een jaar of viertien). Ik werd daar niet vrolijk van. Ze zei bijna niets en was erg somber.
