    Jan kocht en bewoonde de hofstede genaemt den HaesenestÐ, 98 roeden groot, gelegen in de Hasenest nr. 1, d.i. nu te Steendorp op de westelijke hoek van Gelaagstraat en Kapelstraat, waar nu een appartementsgebouw staat.
    In 1676 was zijn landbouwbedrijf ruim 30 gemeten groot, waarvan ruim 12 gemeten eigendom. Sommige van zijn eigen gronden werden verpacht, terwijl hijzelf andere pachtte (R.A.B., Bazel nr. 390 f 113).
    Jan stierf als armmeester van Bazel.
    De inventaris vermeldt twee paarden, vier koeien, drie kalveren, twee wintelingenÐ. Onder de verbouwde gewassen nam het vlas een ruime plaats in. Jan werkte allicht met een paar knechten; een dienstmaerteÐ had hij alleszins: Lijsbet van Britsom, aan wie bij Jans dood nog 66 gulden loon dienden uitbetaald. De kinderen kregen elk een houwelijck goetÐ van 20 ponden mee (R.A.B., Bazel nr. 212 f 58 en 107).
