    Van Haersolte van Haerst was afkomstig uit een Nederlands hervormd adellijk geslacht. Hij was actief in het onroerend goed; zo hij was o.a. directeur van een woningbedrijf in Delft. Van Haersolte van Haerst was getrouwd en had een dochter.

    Al vroeg (vermoedelijk in 1933) trad Van Haersolte van Haerst toe tot de Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging (NSB) van ir. A.A. Mussert.

    Hij ontving het stamboeknummer 11949. Van Haersolte van Haerst werd door Mussert benoemd tot diens gemachtigde voor de provincie Zuid-Holland.
