Cette famille est issue du ban de Herve. Sur base de recherches déjà effectuées par un archiviste, c'est au 15° siècle , avec les "Pirkéa, que démarre cette descendance dans la région de Verviers (province de Liège)

Les origines du patronyme GERONO seraient vraisemblablement liées au passage des familles GERON dans la région du plateau de Herve.

Par le biais d'autre archives généalogiques, nous avons établi un descendance de ce patronyme en prenant comme origine les "Pirkéa" de Stembert au 15° siècle. Ce n'est que vers le 16° siècle que l'on verra le patronyme GERONO avec Thomas dit de Gérono ou de Grono (Thimister).

Personnages très actifs dans la vie publique du ban de Herve, les Gerono restent attachés à cette région pendant très longtemps.
