1036. Basin, gest. ca. 511, koning van Thüringen, bekend als een groot koning en de grondlegger van het grote Thüringen, zijn rijk strekte zich uit tot de oevers van de Donau, had contact met de lombarden onder koning Wacchon, die hij zijn dochter Radegonde ten huwelijk gaf, hij was de grootvader van de Radegonde gevangen genomen door Clotaire I (vgl. 832)
Hij was zeker een afstammeling van de Basin die in 450 Childéric, koning der salische franken, opgejaagd door zijn familie, onderdak verschafte, die dit beloonde door zeven jaar later bij het bestijgen van de frankische troon Basina te ontvoeren die de moeder van Clovis I zou worden (vgl. 3328)
