Notes about Jelle Stevens Visser

Op 21 februari 1865 raakt er een houten marineschip opgesloten in het ijs voor de kust van
Gaasterland, het schip raakte lek, en er werd een noodvlag gehesen. Een aantal mannen van Lemmer
ging hier op af, over en door het ijs, om de bemanning te redden. Na een zware tocht slaagden zij
er in om de mensen van boord te halen. Voor dit redden werd later een getuigschrift uitgereikt
aan Jacob, Bauke, Steven en Andries Visser, Wijbrand Ras, Gerben en Jurjen Bootsma en Poppe
Gaukes Bootsma.( Uit het boek van A.E.Klijnsma ) in de oudheidkamer van Lemmer hangt het
getuigschrift van Jacob Visser.
