Hendrikus Gijsbertus Drost werd op 10 maart 1908 geboren in Ermelo en is daar altijd blijven wonen; zijn beroep was bakker. Drost is lid van de Raad van Verzet. Het huis van Drost is vaak plaats van samenkomst voor overleg, bovendien liggen er wapens en munitie opgeslagen. Bij een inval, begin november 1944, wordt hij gearresteerd en afgevoerd naar de Willem III-kazerne. Zijn huis wordt in brand gestoken.

Het monument ter nagedachtenis aan de omgekomenen, bevindt zich aan de Sportlaan, ongeveer 50 meter van de T-kruising Sportlaan - Sportpark Orderbos. Het monument is ontworpen door Gerard Post Greve en bestaat uit drie zwerfkeien, piramidevormig geplaatst tegen een talud.
Op de eerste kei staat een kruis en tekst:
DOOR S'VIJANDS HAND GEVALLEN OP 2 DECEMBER 1944
De tweede kei vermeldt de namen van de dertien geëxecuteerden, in alfabetische volgorde.
Op de kleine kei staat:
