Burgemeester van de stad Hasselt in: 1535-1536 en 1547-1548. - Facteur van de familie Schetz van Antwerpen naar Leipzig (1578) (Facteur = iemand die handel drijft voor rekening van anderen of die brieven bezorgt) - Hij is geassocieerd met de gebroeders Schetz van Antwerpen in verschillende ondernemingen van grote omvang. Zie bulletin van het Aardrijkskundig genootschap van Antwerpen, deel 7 (1882). Een handelsakte uit de 16e eeuw door M.P. Genard blz. 483 enz. - Adriaan van Hilst, zoon van Jan en Maria Schetz, werd de ’factor’ van het handelshuis Schetz in Leipzig.
