    JOHN SOLSMA SR., DEAD

    John Solsma Sr., who died at his home near Sheldon on Sunday March 19, was born in Friesland the Netherlands on September 6, 1841. He was 74 years and 6 months old at the time of his demise.

    He came to America 23 years ago and lived with his family successively at Orange City, Maurice, Alton, Hospers, Boyden, and Sheldon.

    Mr. Solsma leaves to mourn his death a wife 76 years old, to whom he had been married nearly 52 years. Five children were born to them, four of whom survive, Mrs. I. Kamies, Bert, Jacob and Johannes, all residing in this vacinity. The eldest daughter Mrs. G. Swart, died 21 years ago.

    In January 1915, he suffered a paralytic stroke affecting the right side of his body which ultimately resulted in his death. Thirteen years ago he confessed his faith and became a member of the Reformed Church in Hospers, and upon removing to Sheldon he became a member of the church at that place, in which the funeral services were held on Tuesday.
