op 21 mei 1917 verhuist het gezin naar de Wetstraat 7. de volgende dag overlijdt Henderina plotseling op 44 jaar: ze krijgt een miskraam en bloedt dood. ze laat 8 kinderen na. Opa kan niet voor de kinderen zorgen dus gaan Johanna Corn. (15), Alida (12) naar oudste zus Maria aan de Lantstraat, Pieter (11), Wilh (6), Marinus (5) en Jacob (2) verhuizen naar de Johannastichting in Alphen ad Rijn. Later gaat Alida alsnog naar die stichting. Trijntje (8) ging naar opa's zus Trijntje in Maassluis.
Martinus heeft nog een paar maanden in 1920 bij dochter Maria met Kornelis van Spijk ingewoond maar is uiteindelijk aan de ziekte van Korsokov overleden, na op verzoek van Kornelis van Spijk naar in inrichting in Beregen op Zoom werd verwezen (de hele procedure gevolgd) waar hij na een dag overleed

Event (info): WAARSCHUWING! Er zijn bij de nakomelingen van dit echtpaar een fout gen gevonden.

Bij de familie is het erfelijke gen MSH6 gevonden wat een nare en dodelijke darmkanker kan veroorzaken. ik heb een brief in bezit waar je mee naar je huisarts kan en je (gratis) kan laten onderzoeken. Let op! je kan drager zijn van dat gen zonder er zelf last van te hebben maar wel doorgeven aan je kinderen.
