    Engel vestigde zich omstreeks 1645 te Rotterdam.
    Met assistentie van zijn vader maakte hij huwelijkse voorwaarden voor not. Van der Graeff 6 dec. 1645. Op 4 dec. 1647 verklaarde Maeycken Ariensdr., dienstmaecht van Engel Heyn-dericxsz van Tongeren, dat de timmerman Aernout Imansz met een stuk hout alle glazen voor het bed in Engels' huis heeft ingegooid. Engel machtigt Jan Pot om de renten van zijn losrentebrieven te innen 3 mei 1650.
    Hij koopt 21 jan. 1650 een huis in de Trouwstege noordzijde voor 1625 gulden.
    Samen met zijn zwager Frans Willems Gouwenaer machtigt hij Johannes van Wassenhoven, brouwer om van de heer Timmers 2000 guldens te vorderen uit het versterf van zijn schoonmoeder 22 jan 1657.
