Notes about Adrianus Anthonis Van Soom

Rond 1550 werd in Broechem Adrianus Van Soom geboren. In het jaar 1576 (her)trouwde Adrianus in Broechem met Lisken Wevers. Twee jaar later in 1578 was hij daar weer maar nu met Barbara Nagels. Uit dit huwelijk werd in 1590 Joannes Van Soom geboren. Via zijn zoon Gommarus Van Soom °1622 en zijn kleinzoon Leonardus Van Soom (1667-1731) komen we op 2 april 1699 bij de geboorte van Petrus Van Soom. Deze Petrus mag beschouwd worden als de sleutelfiguur in onze stamboom. Hij huwde 3 maal en uit elk van deze huwelijken ontspringt wat we nu een 'familietak' noemen.
Eerste huwelijk was in 1723 met Catharina Baetens. Catharina was de weduwe van de pachter van de Franckx hoeve, eigendom van de Abdij van Nazareth in Lier. Deze hoeve bestaat nu nog steeds. Hun zoon Petrus Franciscus Van Soom (1728-1788) is de stamvader van de Van Soom’s afkomstig van de streek rond Pulle en Herenthout. Het zijn de broers Theo Van Soom uit Vorselaar en Herman Van Soom uit Heist op den Berg die deze familietak bij elkaar sprokkelden.
Petrus Van Soom huwde in 1730 een tweede maal met Joanna Cailliau (Calluy) (1692-1747). Uit dit huwelijk wordt Joannes Baptist (1742-1800) geboren. Hij is de stamvader van de Vorselaarse tak, waartoe nu de beeldhouwer Luk Van Soom uit Rijkevorsel behoort.
Uit een derde huwelijk in 1748 met Catharina Van Den Bruel °1720 wordt in Pulderbos Joannes Baptista Van Soom (1750-1799) geboren. Hij vestigde zich in Merksem en is de stamvader van de Van Soom’s uit Merksem en dus van mijn eigen familietak.
