George werd met zijn zusje Jo geplaatst in een gereformeerd weeshuis in Amersfoort, waar hij het vak kleermaker leerde. Hij werkte daarna bij een kleermaker in Apeldoorn, waar hij bij AGOVV voetbalde. Via de Kees Boeke beweging maakte hij kennes met Jan, de broer van Maaike van Sadwijk. Hij leerde voor coupeur en vestugde zich na zijn huwelijk in de Steenstraat, bij zijn schoonouders. Later bouwde hij een huis, met atelier aan de Hoge Dijk, nu Prof.Jordan laan. Im Utrecht, toen nog Maartensdijk.
Toen de vrotw van zijn zwager Henk stierf en dieachterbleef met twee kleine jongetjes, nam hij die op bij ich thuis.
Hij stierf aan een herwenbloeding. tijdens een wandeling in bos Rijnaiwen.Het hem daar ophalen met een ziekenauto was een heel probleem. Die waarschuwen was al moeilijk. Hoe kun je bij iemand in hhet bios weglopen die buiten bewustzijn op degrond ligt.
