Co was muziekleraar aan de Normaalschool (de latere Rijkskweekschool) te
Alkmaar, gaf o.a. les voor piano, orgel en zang; leidde verschillende koren,
o.a. in de Langendijk, als dirigent van gemengd, dames, heren en kinderkoor. Hij werd daar 'Baas' genoemd. Verder was hij directeur-organist van de St.Josephkerk te Alkmaar en drager van het gouden kruis Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice.
