Harm bij zijn ouders Harm van Rein en Jacobje Wolthuis samen met zijn broers en zusters. Hij woonde eerst in Gasteren op nummer A112 en later op nummer A129.

Notitie bij Harm:
Van beroep bakkersknecht en vanaf 1946 bakker te Veendam. Hij nam de bakkerij over van bakker Duit.
In het begin had Harm een brood en banketbakkerij en later alleen een banketbakkerij. De grote steenoven uit de bakkerij ging en werd vervangen door een over op aardgas.
Harm zijn specialiteiten waren Groningerkoek en -oude wijven en allerlei producten voor mensen met suikerziekte. Dit kwam omdat Harm zelf ook suikerziekte had.
Voor de Groninger koek en oude wijven heeft Harm veel prijzen gewonnen tijdens de landelijke bakkersdagen, maar de prijzen waren niet alleen van Groninger koek en oude wijven maar ook van allerlei andere producten die hij in de bakkerij verkocht.

Harm had elke week jaren lang een kleine advertentie in de plaatselijke krant in Veendam met de volgende inhoud:
Koek is koek
Maar zij die het weten
Wensen Van Rein’s koek te eten

Elk jaar op 11 november van elk jaar werd de voorkamer leeggehaald en kwam op die plek de sinterklaastafel met marsepein en chocoladefiguren.
Zij hadden een bakkerij aan het Beneden Westerdiep 71 te Veendam en verhuisden in 1976 naar Dr. Brongerststraat 2 te Veendam.
In 1976 verkocht Harm de bakkerij aan de familie Kielman die in het pand een brood- en banketbakkerij hielden.

Harm hield notities bij wat hij maakte in de bakkerij voor het volgend jaar.
