Mogelijk is rond 1565 Anthonia van Ostaeijen (oma van deze Cornelius) uit Loenhout komen wonen op de plaats wat nu Ostaaijen heet.
Haar man heette wel Heijns, maar zij komt uit een redelijk bekende familie. Misschien dat deze naam rond 1710 als achternaam is gebruikt door de kinderen van Cornelius.

Een andere link is dat net na het overlijden van Cornelius ontvangen zijn oudste dochter en zoon een deel van de erfenis van Jan Rombouts en Dympna Empsen (zie noties zoon Lambertus). Degene die de erfenis regelt is Michiel van Elsacker die in 1560 het Schalienhuis heeft gekocht, waar de famile Rombouts eigenaar van was.
