Notes about Albert Azzo I van Luni markgraaf van Milaan

Albert Azzo was graaf van Luni, Genua, Tortona en Gavello, markgraaf van Milaan. Hij steunde de tegenkoning Arduin van Ivrea en organiseerde in 1012 een opstand in Rome, tijdens de aanwezigheid van keizer Hendrik II. Er ontstonden zware gevechten op de bruggen over de Tiber maar de keizer ontstnapte en de opstand verliep. In 1014 viel Albert Azzo Pavia, Novara en Vercelli aan en werd toen samen met zijn broers gevangengenomen. Een broer wist te vluchten maar Albert Azzo werd pas in 1018 vrijgelaten. Hij verdedigde in 1026 Pavia tegen keizer Koenraad II.
