Jan Pieter woonde eerst in het dubbele woonhuis hoek Zwolseweg/Bloemstraat en later in 1930 op “de Oldekamp” te Heerde Het land waarop hij zijn prachtige Oldekamp bouwde was blijkens de kadastrale atlas van 1832 al in de familie. J.P. was vele jaren een belangrijk gezicht in de vereniging van Zeepfabrikanten. Hij heeft jaren in de Heerder gemeenteraad gezeten en bezat veel onroerend goed in de gemeente Heerde. Een karakteristiek figuur, die tragisch verongelukte op de spoorovergang achter zijn huis (waar 1x per dag een treintje langs kwam) op de dag dat hij besloten had zich terug te trekken als oudste direkteur van de Klok.
