Als sinds 1888 vormt bakkerij Broekmans een begrip in Noord Limburg. De oprichter van bakkerij Broekmans is Johannes Henricus Broekmans. Deze begon in 1888 met een bakkerij aan de Steenstraat in Panningen.
In 1918 nam de zoon van Johannes Henricus, Martinus Broekmans de zaak over. Als oudste zoon van Martinus, kreeg Harrie het privilege om de bakkerij over te mogen nemen. Dit deed hij in 1956 samen met zijn vrouw Angèle.
Thijs, de zoon van Harrie, nam in 1987 de zaak van zijn vader over. Dit deed hij samen met zijn vrouw Caroline.
