Obituary:
VAN NINHUYS, KAREN THERESA Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a short but courageous battle with cancer on Monday, April 26, 2010 in her 68th year. Dearly missed by her children Barbara Swayze, Margaret Veltri and Harry Powell (Clara). Loving companion of Bill Bryan. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Staci and Dale Swayze, Paul, Logan and Fallon Veltri, Chelsea, Joshua and Zachary Powell. She will also be missed by her brothers and sisters Rose Jones, Doug Godin (Lois), Doreen Steers (Dave), Pat Saliba, John McGee (Sandra) and many nieces and nephews. Her beloved pet dog Shelby will miss her as well. She is predeceased by her parents Loretta McGee and James McGee and brother-in-law Lou Saliba. Karens family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Thursday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Vigil prayers will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 30, 2010 at St. Therese of Lisieux R.C. Church at 10:30 a.m. with Father Bill Derousie officiating. Cremation to follow. A private family interment will take place at a later date. If so desired memorial donations may be made to the McNally House.
