Vrijdag 16 oktober zal Beringe getuige mogen zijn van een uitzonderlijke gebeurtenis. Die dag herdenkt het echtpaar Zegers-Janssen op de Kaumeshoek de dag dat hun echtverbintenis op 18 oktober 1910 door pastoor Weylandt z.g. in de Panningse parochiekerk werd in gezegend. Op 17 okt. 1910 vond het burgerlijk huwelijk plaats voor de ambtenaar van de burgerlijke stand. Uit hun echtverbintenis aanschouwden 6 kinderen het levenslicht, 4 dochters en 2 zonen, allen nog in leven, die op hun beurt het nakomelingsschap vermeerderden met 33 kleinkinderen en 22 achterkleinkinderen. Aanloop heeft het diamanten echtpaar meer dan genoeg. In 2 jaar tijds moesten ze zelfs naar zestien bruiloften. Na de eerste jaren in Everlo te hebben gewoond, vestigden zij zich in 1914 op Kaumeshoek 12, waar een boerderijtje met 5 ha grond werd gekocht. In 1930 werd de oude boerderij afgebroken en een nieuwe gebouwd. Deze werd later door zoon Michel overgenomen. Het echtpaar woonde 8 jaar bij een der kinderen in Blerick. Toen de plaatsruimte het niet meer toeliet werd het houten huisje vlak voor Kaumeshoek 12 gebouwd, zodat ze weer op vertrouwde bodem terugkeerden. Ondanks dat de diamanten bruidegom vanaf 1949 van „Drees" trekt, valt stilzitten hem bijzonder moeilijk. Bij redelijk weer biedt hij de helpende hand op de boerderij van zoon Michel De diamanten bruid verafschuwt eveneens het stilzitten; zij verzorgt thans nog haar eigen huishouden. Theodorus Hendrikus Zegers, geboren 22-9- 1883 op boerderij v.d. Pas in Beringe, en Maria Sibilla Janssen die op 24-11-1888 in Helden-Dorp het levenslicht aanschouwde, bezochten beiden vanaf hun zesde jaar de lagere school in Panningen. De diamanten bruid verhuisde na 17 maanden naar Stoks in Panningen. Zodoende kon het dan ook ge beuren dat de diamanten bruidegom een oog je liet vallen op zijn tegenwoordige echtgenote en zij na een kennismaking van 6 jaar in het huwelijk traden daar de vrouwelijke wederhelft bij deze eerste kennismaking nog zo jong was, 16 jaar. Neen was het antwoord van moeder de vrouw, ik was toen 17. Laten we er verder maar over zwijgen of het 16 of 17 was, vaststaat in ieder geval dat ze tot 1949 poot aan hebben gespeeld op hun klein gemengd bedrijf waarbij vader Zegers gedurende 32 jaar ook nog de „melkkar" heeft gereden. Waarachtig niet van weelde. Dat er vrijdag 16 oktober gefeest wordt, spreekt vanzelf, daar is dan ook alle reden voor, niet alleen voor het diamanten paar en hun nakomelingsschap, doch ook de buurt zal ongetwijfeld meeleven. Vrijdag 16 oktober vindt om 14 uur in de Beringse parochiekerk een plechtige Eucharistieviering plaats uit dankbaarheid. De verdere feestviering heeft plaats in zaal „De Hoove" in Beringe waar van 18.00 tot 19.30 uur op de te houden receptie ieder de gelegenheid wordt geboden het diamanten paar en verdere familie te feliciteren. Dat hiervan een dankbaar gebruik zal worden gemaakt lijdt geen twijfel.
