Zaterdagmorgen om 10 uur vond in de parochie kerk van de H. Jozef in Beringe de begrafenis plaats van de heer F.M. Kuypers, lid van de gemeenteraad Helden, die woensdag op 37-jarige leeftijd in het Sint-Radboudziekenhuis in Nijmegen aan een ongeneeslijke ziekte overleed. Groot was de belangstelling bij de begrafenis, daar de overledene naast het lidmaatschap van de Heldense raad, dat hij sinds 1 september 1962 bekleedde, nog talrijke andere funkties in het openbare leven bekleede o.a. bestuurslid Groene Kruis, Roode Kruis, gemeentelijke Jeugd- en Sportraad, voetbalvereniging BEVO, personeelsver. Neduco, carnavalsvereniging Beringe, voorzitter van de NKV afdeling Beringe en van buurtver. Meijelseweg, die door hem, kort voor zijn ziekte werd opgericht. Uit deze lijst van funkties blijkt wel de grote belangstelling van de overledene voor alles wat met cultuur, jeugd en sport te maken had en waarbij de ernstige problemen van het dagelijkse leven evenmin werden verwaarloosd. Aan de geopende groeve begon burgemeester Hoeijmakers zijn toespraak met: „Beste Frans. Het voltallig college van B&W met gemeente secretaris, raadsleden, oud-wethouders en oud-collega's zijn hier gekomen om afscheid van je te komen nemen en je te danken voor de fijngevoelige wijze waarop je de belangen der gemeenschap hebt voorgestaan in eenvoud, eerlijkheid en oprechtheid op een manier dat je meende dat je het goed deed. Danken willen wij je ook voor de wijze waarop je vrouw en kinderen terzijde hebt gestaan, voor wie het vandaag een zware dag is. Mogen zij in het geloof kracht, steun en sterkte vinden dit kruis te dragen". Met een „Frans, vaarwel namens het gemeentebestuur van Helden" eindigde de burgemeester dit ontroerende afscheid. Rouwkransen van directie Neduco, personeelsver. Neduco, Groene Kruis, Roode Kruis, NKV Helden, Marokkanen-pension en andere getuigden van de dank en vriendschap voor de overledene en achtergeblevenen.
