Came to England in 1934, linving at Bank House 91, Market place, South Cave at the invitation of a Arthur Godfrey who was a farmer and potaoa merchat in Sout Cave and wiched to be introduced to the Dutch methode of growing tomatoes and lettuce after having been greatly impressed by the methods of growing klaas.s brother Evert, who had come to England two years earlier.
After a period of employment as a foreman for Arthur Godfrey, Klaas rented some land on Beverly road, South cave and commenced business in his own.
iN 1938 klaas was offered a much larger piece of land at Riccall near Selby with better water water supply facilities and the family left South Cave.
