Notes about Klaas Geerts Achttien

Het kerkje en de klokkenstoel te Lagemeeden werden in 1862 afgebroken. Om de bouw van de nieuwe kerk van Den Horn te bekostigen werd de begraafplaats van Lagemeeden aan de gemeente Aduard verkocht. Ook werden de stenen en het hout van de kerk hergebruikt in de nieuwe kerk en alle inventaris kreeg een plek in de nieuwe kerk. De plek van de kerk werd aangewezen als plek voor nieuwe begrafenissen.

Het oude kerkhof is bewaard gebleven. Het ligt nu als een verlaten rustplek, midden tussen de landerijen. Het wordt overigens nog steeds gebruikt. In 1897 werd op het kerkhof op de plek waar de kerk gestaan had een memorieplaatje van pastoor Bertoldus Haecke (overleden in 1470) gevonden, die daarvoor in een grafzerk had gezeten. Veel 17e- en 18e-eeuwse grafzerken werden later hergebruikt op de deel van een nabijgelegen boerderij
