Cornelia had reeds een zoon, Willem Abraham den Exter, * 25-10-1872. Waarschijnlijk was dit kind ook van Barend, gelet op de eerste naam Willem, de vader van Barend. Dit kind heeft later de naam den Exter Blokland gekregen.

In de periode dat Pieternella en Barend getrouwd waren kreeg Pieternella een zoon, Jan Blokland *23-11-1874 te Zaamslag. Het huwelijk ging niet echt goed, want Barend kon aantonen dat hij onmogelijk de vader kon zijn omdat hij in die periode niet in Zaamslag was.

Toen Jan Blokland wilde gaan trouwen moest hij toestemming vragen aan zijn "vader", maar deze ontkende de wettigheid. Op 24-4-1896 is door Pieternella, Jan erkend als haar kind en vanaf die datum werd de naam Jan Blokland veranderd in Jan Wisse. Dit was 2 weken voor zijn huwelijk met Leijntje Wilhelmina Kolijn. vanaf die tijd heten de nakomelingen, dus ik ook, Wisse.
