26-06-1241: Dirk, heer van Altena, verklaart dat zijn dienstlieden Nicolaas van de Eem en diens zoon Hendrik zich weer aan hem hebben onderworpen, en bepaalt de maatregelen die zullen worden genomen in het geval zij zich opnieuw aan zijn gezag zouden onttrekken.
Hij wordt slechts één keer vermeld samen met zijn zoon Hendrick. Hij is dienstman van de heer van Altena: "Nicolaus, dictus de Ema, et Henricus, filius suus, ministeriales nostri".
