(...) Henk Reijnen werd geboren op 13 januari 1924 te Kruispunt Beugen gemeente Oeffelt, thans onderdeel van de gemeente Boxmeer. Zijn vader Jan Reijnen was daar telegrafist bij de spoorwegen. Zoals de naam, Kruispunt Beugen, al zegt kruisten daar twee spoorlijnen ongelijkvloers. En wel de lijn Roermond - Nijmegen en de lijn van Boxtel naar Wesel in Duitsland van de Noord Brabants Duitsche Spoorweg Maatschappij
Rond 1928 werd Jan Reijnen benoemd tot stationswachter te Vlodrop-Station aan de zgn. IJzeren Rijn, die liep van Antwerpen naar Mönchengladbach. Het emplacement van Vlodrop-Station was behoorlijk groot, het telde 13 sporen, had een draaischijf en een remise.
Het gezin Reijnen heeft daar tot september 1944 gewoond. Op 25 september 1944 werd het station abusievelijk door toestellen van de Britse RAF gebombardeerd, waarbij een zus van Henk Reijnen onder het puin bedolven werd en overleed. (...)"
