Notes about Robertus / Rabet Pijpers

Den Hameckers / Haammakers =van beroep Haammaker. Iemand die van hout en leer het juk (de haam) voor een trekdier maakt, vaak ook mooi afgewerkt met koperen ornamenten. Meestal ook zadelmaker voor paarden en ossen. 

De familienaam Pijpers is vermoedelijk een zogenaamde beroepsnaam. Pijper of piper was vroeger een algemene benaming voor een blazer op bijvoorbeeld fluit, schalmei of doedelzak.

In een akte uit 1652 worden Rabet den Hameker en Fijke Sporen opnieuw genoemd. In deze akte wordt Rabet/Robert 'soen van Mr. Thijs der Schrur' genoemd. Met deze Mathijs wordt mogelijk Matheis Peipers bedoeld, ged. Roermond 19-8-1604 als zn. van Adolphus Peipers en Cornelia NN. Bewijzen hiervoor ontbreken echter vooralsnog.
