James Spence McDonald, 84, 428 North Hill St, Griffin, died Tuesday. He was a lifetime resident of Griffin. He was a retired owner and founder of a funeral home. Survivors: wife, Pauline P; daughters, Martha Reynolds, Eustis, Nancy McDonald, Atlanta; son, James Spence, Jacksonville; stepson, Bill Ridley, Decatur; seven grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

James married Martha Lucile Hunter 9 Jan 1921 in Fulton; divorced 10 Jun 1936 due to "ungovernable temper of Martha". Children mentioned above have Mattie as their mother.
