MARIA ELISE (RIET) VAN DEN BREKEL Passed away peacefully in the Holland Christian Home on November 16, 2014. Riet was born in Schiedam, Holland, in 1926 and grew up in a happy family of seven children. She trained as a nurse and met Adrian, the love of her life at dancing class. They married in Canada in 1952. Riet was the proud mother of Doris (Tom), Jack (Dianne) and Monica (Blaine); and loving grandmother of Jason, Lisa, Jeffrey, Sarah, Jordan and Chelsea and great-grandmother to Bishop and James. A longtime resident of Brampton, Riet was an active member of St Mary's Parish, various choirs and an avid bridge player. She was well known for her thoughtfulness, kind and generous spirt and her many years of volunteering.
