    Westkapelle opgevoed. Hij hechtte daar waarschijnlijk veel waarde aan, want dikwijls
    ondertekent hij zijn naam: Zacharias de Koster Verhage. Zacharias, op Westkapelle
    wordt die naam verkort tot Sakke, was een echte Westkappelaar. Vrij ruw, niet zo
    toegefelijk en een afkeer van gemaakte vromigheid. Hoewel hij na de openbaring van
    Christus een Evangelische zielsligging kreeg, bleef hij in uitwendige dingen
    conservatief. Dat blijkt wel uit zijn visie over meisjes in de werkende stand.
    Zacharias is molenaar te Arnemuiden geweest van 5-9-1844 tot 1845. Daarna te
    Meliskerke vanaf 1845 tot 1873. Hij overleed te Meliskerke 18-6-1887.
