Emigrant, ging met het schip 'Veendam' van de Holland-Amerika-lijn richting de USA, kwam op 3 juni 1926 aan te Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada; mogelijk was zijn eindbestemming het adres van zijn oom D irk Vermeer, die ruim 30 jaar eerder naar Noord-Amerika vertrok. Helaas zijn we het spoor bijster.
