Arnegonde, vijfde vrouw van Clotaire, zuster van Ingunde, zijn vierde vrouw, we weten weinig van haar behalve dat Gregorius van Tours haar Aregonde noemde, echter in 1959 ontdekte men een sarcophaag in de basiliek van St. Denis, hoogst waarschijnlijk van een echtgenote van Clotaire, die de naam Arnegonde droeg, overigens had Clotaire acht vrouwen.
1959 wurde in der Basilika von St. Denis (Frankreich) das Grab von Arnegunde, der Frau von Konig Chlothar (511-561) und Mutter des Konigs Chilperich I., entdeckt. Die Tote, 1,55 m groß und etwa 45 Jahre alt, war vollstandig bekliedet. Sie trug uber einem Leinenhemd ein knielanges, violettblaues Seidenkleid und daruber eine knochellange Tunika aus rotbrauner Seide, deren Armel mit rotem Satin abgesetzt waren und eine Goldstickerei aufwiesen. Die gesamte Ausstattung gibt einen bisher einmaligen Einblick in Tracht und Schmuck einer merowingischen Konigin, die mit Hilfe einer Inschrift auf ihrem Siegelring als Arnegunde identifiziert werden konnte.
