Al in 1728 waren de eerste woningen in het hollandscheveld zo ver opgerukt, Dat het eerste huis in het grote blok, aan het hoekje, gebouwd werd. het Boerderijtje werd beschreven in 1756 als een woning van 4½ gebint met een Breedte van 20 voet. bij dit pand hoorde toen een schuurtje van twee gebinten Van dertien voet. woning en onder-grond waren bezit van schulte abraham de Vriese. hij verhuurde het plaatsje aan jan harms schonewille, alias 'jaije'. De woning diende als een herkenningspunt in de velden en stond bekend als "jaijenhuis" of "jaeijenhuis". jaije gaf zijn naam ook aan de rest van de Vrieses bezittingen aan het hoekje. in 1746 kocht jaije samen met zijn zwager Albert arents metselaar veen op de bakkerswijk. hij was dus duidelijk Vervener. volgens de haardstedenregisters
