Notes about Lorna Amelia Koetsveld

Lorna schooled at Powong and Dandenong. In her teenage years she mothered her younger sister Shirley as their
mother was in poor heath and died when Shriley was 6. She sang in the choir at Holy Trinity Oakleigh and taught
Sunday School there. When her father sold the Oakleigh business she house kept for her 3 siblings in a rental property
and had a partime job at Worrells the fruiterers in the local shopping strip.
At the end of the War Lorna and Jack married first share farming at Tarwin Lower and then purchasing their own
place on Kings Road Bass. In this community Lorna and Jack worked hard. Lorna support Jack in all his activities
accompanying him to cubs to help with the program etc and they collected newspapers from friends and relatives to
fund raise for the troop. Jack and Lorna were regular dance goers, most Saturday nights they met their freinds at a
District dance at Dalyston, Bass etc.
St Pauls Bass was a great focus of Lorna's attention, She was organist for many years, taught Sunday School, served
on vestry as secretary and treasurer and catered with the Church Ladies for the Woolamia Races monthly. Through this activity the centre of Bass was a great financial contributer to the parish of Phillip Island.
Lorna died at Kirrak House, and age care facility attached to the Wonthaggi Hospital.
