Notes about Margaretha Wilhelmina SMIT

Hers was the second marriage of J A LOUW *29/10/1775, out of which were born a further nine children. Her age at date of death, shown on her death notice and signed by 'J H Louw' would have her date of birth two years later (i.e. *1790) than the one entered against her name in the baptismal register.

According to her death notice she was aged 50 y 9 m 2 d at date of her death, from which her date of birth would seem to have been 5th May 1790. The date of his baptism (see Marius Louw's book, p.33) is given as 15th June 1788 (something to be cleared up).

The date of death (8 May 1847) provided by Janet Melville and found entered in Marius Louw's book was disputed by the entry (7 February 1841) found in her death notice. I accepted the latter.
