Hendrik "Hank" Van Tienderen, age 82, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at home September 18, 2000.
Hank was born Augt 14, 1918, in the Netherlands, to Cornelis and Cornelia Van der Ree Van Tienderen. He married Jannetje "Janet" Van der Stoep Jan 20, 1943. After joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1951, they immigrated to Salt Lake City, UT in 1953. In 1954, their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Hank was hard working and energetic. He established a business as a painting contractor. He enjoyed soccer, fishing, hunting, and gardening. Hank was a friend to all, taking a genuine interest in everyone he met. During 1989 and 1990, Hank and Janet served a church mission in their homeland. His life was dedicated to serving his family and friends. We will miss him.
Hank is survived by his wife, Janet, Salt Lake City; four sons, Corry (Judy) Van Tienderen, Phoenix, AZ; Henry (Ruthann) Van Tienderen, Murray, UT; Randy Van Tienderen and Ron (Wendy) Van Tienderen, Salt Lake City, UT; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother; and eight sisters. Preceded in death by one son, one daughter, two brothers, and one sister.
Services will be held Tuesday Sept 26, 2000, 12 noon, at the Rosecrest LDS 1st Ward, 3101 S. 2300 E. Friends may call Monday 7-9 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E, and at the church Tuesday 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Funeral Directors: The Holbrook Mortuary.
