Huizinge
Huizinge is een klein wierdedorp in de gemeente Loppersum in de provincie Groningen. Het dorp ligt vlak bij de Eemshavenweg. Het heeft 145 inwoners.
Huizinge is een oud wierdedorp in Groningen. Het wordt al in de negende eeuw genoemd in goederenlijst van het klooster van Fulda, samen met Middelstum. De wierde is rechthoekig. Die vorm zou samenhangen met het gegeven dat de wierde is opgeworpen in de boezem van de voormalige Fivel.
De huidige kerk, oorspronkelijk vernoemd naar Johannes de Doper dateert uit de dertiende eeuw. Het is een van best bewaarde romanogotische kerken in de provincie. De huidige kerk is overigens niet de eerste. Er heeft tenminste een eerdere kerk gestaan, waar aan het einde van de twaalfde eeuw de latere abt van het klooster Bloemhof in Wittewierum, Emo van Bloemhof pastoor was.
